I had some office supplies bundled via rubberband on my desk underneath it. Yikes.

You can see here the rubber literally cut into the plastic before snapping itself.

I used to have a metal document tray sitting on my desk near a halogen lamp. One day I must have nudged the lamp a bit because I came back from a short break to find a rubber eraser melting onto the tray next to the lamp. I soon got rid of the eraser and the lamp. Oops.

Desk lamps were one of the first things I went LED with. Even when not melting things they can be annoyingly hot.
